Overview
"I came to the USA as an accompanying spouse to my doctorate-seeking husband. Almost twelve months to the day after our arrival, my husband deserted me in Boston. Confused, far from my home country, and in the middle of a pandemic, I knew that the decision I made from that pivotal point would either build or break me. This thesis is a collection of personal essays exploring my experience prior to coming to the USA, my experience as an accompanying spouse, as well as attempts to forge forward despite my circumstances. Inevitably, the themes that emerge include domestic violence, immigration, women, culture, as well as self-agency." -- Abstract
