Between Dec. 1960 and the Cuban Missile Crisis of 1962, more than 14,000 Cuban children were brought from Cuba to the United States. Dubbed Operation Pedro Pan, this underground movement sought to save children from Fidel Castro's Communist Cuba. -- abstr
