Sigmund A. Lavine Boston Theatre Collection
Scope and Contents
The Sigmund A. Lavine Boston Theatre Collection is a collection of materials generated by and relating to Boston Theatres of the late nineteenth and early twentieth century. Included in the collection are photographs of actors and productions, theatre programs and playbills from Boston area theatres, production materials such as scripts and journals, and newspaper and magazine clippings about people, places, and events in the Boston theatre community. The bulk of the material concerns the Castle Square Theatre, but also includes materials from other Boston theatres.
Also included in the collection are a number or correspondences, papers, and newsclippings written or collected by Edwin F. Edgett, noted journalist, author, and Editor of the Boston Transcript.
