Overview

"This paper is a master's project for a Master's in Fine Arts in Theatre Education. This project seeks to use tabletop roleplaying games (TTRPGs) as an alternative mode of instruction for teachers. The author sought to provide an understanding and justification for the use of TTRPGs in the classroom as a viable means for curriculum design as well as a guide for educators to pursue designing their own game-aided curriculums. Also provided is a concrete example of a game-based curriculum through curriculum maps, lesson plans, and materials. The paper begins with an overview of the author's background in education and TTRPGs, then discusses the rationale behind using TTRPGs, followed by details of the curriculum designed for this project, reflections on the workshop hosted to introduce this to other educators, challenges educators may face in TTRPG curriculums, and the potential TTRPGs offer for educators in the future." -- Abstract
