Overview

"'Linxi and Her World' is a 2-channel video installation that explores the artist's first motherhood, and her daughter Linxi's early childhood. All the footage was shot in 2020 when Linxi was between 2-3 years old. It was also when social distancing and wearing masks became a daily routine. In this installation, two experimental videos are projected onto the wall across from each other. The two videos share the same length and they start and finish simultaneously. On one side, the shaky footage shot with a GoPro captures Linxi's playtime from the child's point of view. On the other side, the static footage shot with a Fuji camera reveals the artist's interactions with her daughter from the mother's perspective. Each video consists of three events, which are related to animals, play space, and water respectively. Although the location and the time vary from each event, one video always resonates with the other either in terms of visual elements, dialogue or subtitles. The sound of both videos is heard simultaneously and will interfere with each other, but in a harmonious way." -- Abstract
