Overview
"Within Latin America the publishing trends of Science Fiction have largely been ignored. I feel that this is a large error within the Latin American publishing industry, as Science Fiction in this region can incorporate the popular genres of Magical Realism, Fantasy, and the Fantastic. These forms of literature tend to be the most popular forms within the North American mindset as well. By honing in on Science Fiction I believe we can see an important wider cultural context of Latin America. What follows is my research devoted to discovering the classic and modern renditions of Science Fiction in Latin America. The countries chosen are those with the highest literacy rates as of 2016 to 2018; Argentina, Uruguay, Venezuela, Chile, and Colombia." -- Abstract
