Overview

"This fantasy novel follows Elzeya, a powerful but sheltered fairy mage, and Lernosa, a street-smart half-fairy performer, as they confront deadly spectres ravaging the human city of Mithron while figuring out their feelings for each other and who they want to be. Elzeya strives to live up to her master's legacy as an Archmage, and Lernosa wants to become a noble in human society, but they eventually learn the hollowness of those dreams and choose to follow their own values instead. Themes include the futility of replicating the values of past generations, the need for intrinsic self-worth over extrinsic prestige, and the dangers of classism, nationalism, and nostalgia for past glory." -- Abstract
