Overview
"This is a novel about family, faith, and love. Set in the fictional town of Steinbeck, Texas, this story is told through the perspective of a daughter and a father, Emmy and Steve, through the course of a year following their estrangement after Emmy comes out as a lesbian. The novel explores the challenges of reconciling identity and place, faith and expectation, sacrifice and compromise. Ultimately, the novel is focused on love—romantic, familial, and spiritual—and what we must sacrifice to hold on to it." -- Abstract
