Overview

"This is a story of identity. While the primary narrative arc follows my relationship with my husband, which will chronicle sixteen years of being married into the military, it will also explore the other aspects of what makes me who I am. As an agnostic, politically-liberal feminist, I do not fit the traditional mold of "military wife" and "mother," which complicates how I fulfill those roles. I share stories of how my expectations of maternal bliss were toppled by the reality of parenthood. I interweave my battle with mental health disorders, from my first therapy sessions as a child to an eventual Bipolar II diagnosis, and how that affects nearly every facet of my life. But above all, this memoir will follow my personal policy of radical honesty. My readers will feel the pain and the pride of facing and overcoming obstacles that have challenged and shaped me." -- Abstract
