Prix Italia Scripts Collection

 Collection
Identifier: MSS 006

Scope and Contents

The Prix Italia Scripts Collection is a collection of submissions of various media programs for the Prix Italia, one of the most prestigious International media awards, between the years of 1956 to 1972, with a few entries of unknown dates. These submissions come in the form of scripts and/or pamphlets describing the work that is being submitted.

The Prix Italia is an International competition, founded in 1948 on the island of Capri, Italy by the RAI, originally for radio programs. It was expanded to include television programs in 1957, and today has branched out to web programs. Prizes are awarded in the categories of drama, documentaries, performing arts, and music.

Most of the scripts and pamphlets in the collection are in multiple languages, the most common ones being English, French, and German, and include biographical information on the work's main authors or creators. Some scripts also contain synopsis notes, and a few entries were submitted with photographs.

The collection also holds several of the winning entries, including all of the winning entries from 1966.
