Overview

"In 1860s Chicago, two young ladies with supernatural abilities come of age while their guardians perform pseudoscientific experiments on them. While living together in the research facility, the girls' friendship evolves into romance. Years later, their relationship as a queer interracial couple is put to the test as they navigate 19th-century America while simultaneously trying to heal their shared past trauma. Both women are faced with the difficult decision of whether or not they must leave their magic and their love for each other behind in order to move forward as individuals. Mysterious invisible flying creatures, astral projection, portals to alternate dimensions, mummy eating, and the Great Chicago Fire of 1871 are woven into this character-focused story with an otherwise realistic historical setting." -- Abstract
