Overview

"Navigating a world of monarchs and peasants, Jonathan is a young, poor thief who holds his kingdom's royalty responsible for the nebulous death of his father, who was a longtime decorated soldier. When Jonathan is swept away to the capital city of this fantasy world to be trained as a soldier, he must learn how to protect someone he loathes: the Heir to the throne, the young and cunning Kyra Montalvo. The longer Jonathan serves the royal family, he is increasingly faced with a dark reality that could undermine the very rulers responsible for much more than just his father's death, and questioning how Kyra, who he is falling in love with, fits into all the king's and general's misdeeds. But when it comes to the choice of justice or mercy, Jon must face the question of who to follow: someone who is right, or someone who is good." -- Abstract
