Overview

""Between Devotion & the Dead" is the first 100 pages of an adult dark fantasy novel, the first in a planned trilogy. The novel follows formerly betrothed princes Declan and Valerian in their quest to stop the resurgence of a magical plague, which Valerian has accidentally triggered in his search for the legendary Gods' Well, before it kills their kingdoms' mages—including Declan's secret life partner, the healer Mylor. The novel explores themes of choices and those that are taken away from us, devotion versus duty, the intersection of queerness and religiousness, power and who gets to wield it, and the healing force of love." -- Abstract
