Overview

"There is no peace without power. The caesar's assassination leaves a power vacuum every senator in Vis wants to exploit save Echo Dexius Valerius whose dream of a peaceful, prosperous state, house, and family shatters with his father's murder. Propelled into the heart of the conflict, he quickly learns neutrality is more dangerous than choosing a side. Xiomara Zapocteloma has long been powerless even as daughter to her city-state's king; her father may sit on the Sunflower Throne but his queen and viceroy rule him, bending both Xiomara and her city-state to their whims. To safeguard her people and her own life, Xiomara concocts a plot to change her fate, but love and politics ruin her attempts and set her on a different path in Vis. Bound together by love and fate, their struggles for peace—personally and politically—force them to confront power and either usurp it or die trying." -- Abstract
