Overview
"Inspired by a true story, this coming-of-age film follows Miguel and Jose, two teen best friends, through their struggle in surviving a crime-stricken neighborhood, oppressed by rival gangs during 1960 in El Paso, Texas. It was also the peak era of pachucos: classy set of gangsters impeccably dressed in zoot suits with drape pants, fedora hats, long chains and two-tone shoes. In this world, Miguel and Jose, both raised without father figures, try avoiding gang conflict. However, after a gang attack, they come to the stark realization that their only option for protection is to join a gang. But seconds before they get jumped in, Father Rahm intervenes; temporarily saving Miguel and Jose from falling victim to the neighborhood's vortex of gang life among teenagers. I believe every town has a hometown hero and this story is about mine, in the border city of El Paso. That hero? Father Rahm." -- Abstract
