Overview

"Compared to many communities across China, Yangming Community in Yuyao City, Zhejiang Province boasts a profoundly rich historical heritage. Despite this, a notable gap exists among many teenagers in Yangming Community regarding their understanding of local history and culture. Within the framework of China's examination-oriented history education, young individuals are gradually losing interest in actively engaging with their local history, culture, and landmarks. This thesis project endeavors to address this issue through media education, aiming to reignite the interest of local youth in the history and culture of Yangming Community. By crafting a short film centered around the narrative of Wang Yangming, a prominent historical and cultural figure of the area, this initiative seeks to guide students towards a rediscovery of their local heritage. Through the immersive experience of media education, students can not only reclaim their awareness and enthusiasm for the rich tapestry of local history and culture but also gain valuable skills in media production and storytelling." -- Abstract
