Scope and Contents

From the Collection:

The collection consists of negatives and photographs primarily created by the Office of Communication and Marketing. Pictured Emerson College events include: Commencement, Alumni Reunions, Homecoming, Prom, Founder's Day, Beanie Day, award receptions, lectures and workshops. There are photos of other student activities including: basketball and baseball games, and broadcasting operations at the college radio station WERS 88.9 FM.

The collection also contains photographs of faculty, administrative staff and trustees dating back to the college founding, including Charles Wesley Emerson, the founder and first president of the college, and Henry Lawrence Southwick, a well-known Shakespearean performer and respected professor who served as the third president of Emerson College.

Other materials from internal and external sources highlight the buildings and grounds occupied by Emerson College throughout the institution's first century, including the college's urban campuses in Boston's Back Bay and Theatre District.
