Overview

"Audience development, and the field of research surrounding it, is intended to explore options and tactics on how best the theatre can expand to consumers that have historically been hard to reach. As the theatre is experiencing lower rates of attendance nationwide, this effort is especially important for the prosperity of the art form moving forward. This project researched the effectiveness of ArtsEmerson’s audience development program, the Play Reading Book Club (PRBC), an initiative put forward to progress theatre literacy to members of the greater Boston community by giving participants the chance to read and discuss the play in a space facilitated by a teaching artist." --Abstract.
