Overview

"THE PRACTITIONER an hour long medical drama that revolves around the life and work of oncology nurse practitioner Katerina Nunez Crompton and her colleagues of oncology nurse practitioners at the esteemed Boston Children's Hospital. The series will represent a new era of postracial television, in which cast members are diverse but are not defined by their race, gender, sexuality, or ethnicity. After suffering from a third trimester miscarriage and a now withering marriage, Katerina turns to alcohol to mask her pain which bleeds into her professional life. Her colleagues of nurse practitioners are concerned by her mental health while battling their own troubling issues like unruly patients, loneliness, and infidelity. The series will consist of twelve episodes which will focus on how nurse practitioners, who are (providers—that can treat, diagnose, prescribe medications to patients, and practice on their own in 33 states) still categorized as middle men and women—not fully respected as providers while being on a higher hierarchal scale than nursing." -- Abstract
