Overview
"Striking Flame is a debut fantasy novel, focusing on the conflict between two dragon brothers. The work is an examination of race relations through a dragon's perspective in an alternate version of our world. Barrios, the main protagonist, believes that peace between dragons and humans is possible, where his older brother Brontaren views them with distrust and growing hostility. Barrios seeks to bring Brontaren to his view, though problems old and new may thwart his success. In addition to a dragon's voice, the main human character is constructed as a direct counterpart to a Puerto Rican man, adding a voice sparsely seen in this genre. Note that there will be a font outside of Times New Roman in certain moments of dialogue, Papyrus written in bold. This is an artistic decision to convey to readers the different physicality in which said dialogue is performed and received by non-human characters." -- Abstract
