Overview

"The Mistress is the first installment of a young adult dark fantasy duology and follows twenty three-year-old Tayven as he finds himself abducted and imprisoned in Rivaena Castle, a place of legend and death. Chosen as an Offering for the Mistress, a woman cursed by the god of Death, Tayven's soul is destined to be ripped from him and ferried to the Underworld as punishment for a centuries long feud between the Mistress and the god. Desperate to escape with his life, Tayven fights, but unwillingly becomes swept away in the magic of both Rivaena and her staff, and learns not all monsters are evil. Unlikely friendships and forbidden desires grow, but when he discovers his closest ally is also his greatest enemy, he is given an impossible choice: save his own life or destroy a god's, avenging the brutal murder of his parents and changing the course of fate itself." -- Abstract
