Overview

"'Something Beautiful About A Bicycle' is a fictional anthology inspired by my experience as a bicycle commuter in cities across the country. In each episodic narrative the bicycle connects with a new protagonist and conveys their deepest desires through an amalgamation of magical realism, Classical Hollywood and Neorealist filmmaking. Originally conceived as a bicycle advocacy piece, each episode looks to highlight different social issues facing urban communities across the nation. Development for 'Something Beautiful About A Bicycle' began in the fall of 2018 and the project was funded via the support of 65 individual backers on Kickstarter in March of 2019. While three screenplays were written for the project, only one could be fully funded. Production of a 7-minute pilot episode took place over 6 days in May 2019 with post-production completed in April of 2020. The pilot episode tells the story of Maria, an aspiring teenage artist trying to balance her artistic passions and academic responsibilities. The project incorporates puppetry, animation and fight choreography to highlight Maria's struggles." -- Abstract
