Overview

"This thesis is a collection of research, data, and information about the Jamaica Plain Porch Festival (Porchfest) and the rebirth of its new owners; Dunamis Boston. Dunamis is an organization that provides support to artists of color in the Boston area. Our time with Dunamis has developed a cartographic prototype in which we analyzed the culture of Jamaica Plain, and how it can be further connected to Porchfest. Since Dunamis' adoption, our mapping system is a product of the needs and wants of the Jamaica Plain residents. In this reading, we go into detail about our methodology and practices on why we began construction on this design, and how we hope it will impact the community members. This thesis was written in collaboration with Ramon Montes & Graham Rutherford. This project would be incomplete without their intelligence, inclusion, and teamwork." -- Abstract
