Trade Cards

This series contains advertising materials for Gilbert and Sullivan productions. The bulk of the items are press kits including press releases, newspaper article copy, and flyers from various tours and engagements. The series also contains a large number of small but heavy metal printing plates, many of which are engravings of halftone photographs and drawings. Included with the plates are copies to serve as proof impressions which have been imprinted on heavy card stock. These plates may have been used to print newspaper ads, flyers, and programs. Most of the plates originate from R.H. Burnside's Boston Comic Opera productions of Gilbert and Sullivan operas.
