Programs, 1870 - 1988
Scope and Contents
This series contains programs from a large range of productions of Gilbert and Sullivan operas, from professional theatres London to high school glee clubs. Some programs have been clipped from newspapers or magazines, and a number of productions from the 1980s have "Playbill" programs. This series has great strengths in programs from D'Oyly Carte productions from the late 1800s and early 1900s, as well as Boston-area productions across the span of the collection. Some items are "souvenir" programs and may contain special photographs of the actors or drawings of scenes in the operas. Programs have been sorted out by individual productions, but programs with multiple operas listed have been placed together.
