Scope and Contents

The collection consists of electronic records which are located in the institutional preservation repository. The records are organized in three series: Series 1: Events and Photographs, 2012-2023; Series 2: Marketing, n.d., 2015-2016; and Series 3: Newsletters, 2012-2016. Series 1: Events and Photographs, 2012-2023 predominately consists of photographs and videos of AMIGOS sponsored or co-sponsored events, workshops, classes, meetings, and trips; and also included is a list of events. Series 2: Marketing, n.d., 2015-2022 contains the AMIGOS logo, posters for AMGIOS events, promotional material, and videos. Series 3: Newsletters, 2012-2016 are weekly e-newsletters AMIGOS sent to members about upcoming events and activities.

Biographical / Historical

Founded in 1991 and officially recognized as a student group by the Student Government Association in April 1992, Amigos, which means "friends" in English, was founded by four Emerson college students as Emerson's first Latino student organization. The original goals of the group were "...to make Emerson aware of the Latino community, to share the differences within Lation Cultures, and to serve the Latino community in the greater Boston area."
