Scope and Contents
A virtual event featuring faculty and guest artists. Welcome by Ken Grout, Executive-in-Residence, Oral Presentation of Literature Instructor, Communication Studies Department; "The Southwick Recital: An Emerson Tradition," a short documentary about the Southwick Recitals; a selection from "Ethan Frome," a novel written by Edith Wharton performed by Ken Grout; "A Cultivated Friendship," a performance of selected letters exchanged by writers Edith Wharton and Louis Bromfield using Daniel Bratton's edition of the letters performed by John Dennis Anderson, Assistant Professor Emeritus of Communication Studies, Emerson College, and Karen Vuranch, Instructor of Communication Arts, Concord University; a selection from "Pleasant Valley," a memoir written by Louis Broomfield performed by Ken Grout, and finally Ken Grout commemorates the 51st anniversary of the Kent State massacre before ending the Recital.
