"… this pair dates from the filming of 'Hans Christian Andersen' in 1951(?). We wore out many pairs during the filming but I decided to keep one pair as a keepsake of that job. … NOTE: Every ballet dancer has her way of winding her ribbons when not using the shoes. Everyday, I wound my ribbons the very same way for many years, as they are wound and tucked now. Please do the same if you are going to unwind them. Arching the instep when putting them away is part of the ritual. Thank you." -Sylvia Lewis
