Unproduced scripts, unsold pilots, and miscellaneous material, 1940-1977
Scope and Contents
This series includes unbound scripts and treatments for unproduced radio and television programs written by Phil Leslie as well as scripts for television programs that made it to the pilot stage but no further. Each show is a separate subseries. Between 1959 and 1962 Leslie adapted three movies for television: Mr. Deeds Goes to Town (1936), Father of the Bride (1950) and Gidget (1959). None of these shows were put into production. Television shows based on all three movies would later air but they were unrelated to Leslie's efforts. At the end of this series is a short story written by Leslie in 1940 for THIS WEEK Magazine. See Series 4 for unproduced scripts from television programs for which Leslie wrote at least one script that was produced (i.e. there are six Here's Lucy scripts in the collection that were produced and one that was not).
