Emerson College Alumni Southwick Recital from June 8, 1996.
Welcome by J. Gregory Payne and Sybil Siegel Tonkonogy '58. John Anderson performed "The Question of Our Speech: The Return to Aural Culture" by Cynthia Ozick, Jennifer Cover Payne '71 G'72 performed "Wild Grapes" by Robert Frost, Sonnet 116 by William Shakespeare, "Little Brown Baby" by Paul Laurence Dunbar, "When Dey 'Listed Colored Soldiers" by Paul Laurence Dunbar, "Paul Robeson" by Gwendolyn Brooks, "Song In Spite of Myself" by Countee Cullen. Everett "Rett" Rich '64 G'68 performed a collection of E.E. Cummings writings from "A Poets Adivce to Students." Suzie Sims-Fletcher G'93 performed serveral poems, starting with "The Village Voice on Satire", "May He Lose his Way" by Archilochos, then "The Travelers Curse Afer Misdirection" by Robert Graves, then "At the Theatre: To the Lady Behind Me" by A P Herbert, then "Unfortunate Coincidence" by Dorthy Parker, and lastly "What's that Smell in the Kitchen" by Marge Piercy.
