Scope and Contents

This series consists of playbills and program memorabilia from an assortment of theaters. Theaters in Massachusetts and New York are a bulk of this series. Some of the memorabilia present circa from the 1940s, before Betsy Carpenter was born. This series demonstrates Carpenter’s appreciation and consumption of the performing arts.

Arranged in alphabetical order according to the state, and then alphabetically by city, then alphabetically by theater. Except for plays in New York City, Boston, and Washington D.C., folders with only one playbill/program production include the name of the play in italics below. Miscellaneous in the theater section denotes that more than one playbill/program is present produced from that city and the collection does not have at least one more production produced from the same theater.
